As Mayor Johnson launches his campaign for another term at City Hall, he is taking a victory lap on a violent crime ‘reduction’ that has left Chicago far behind our peer cities like New York and has failed to reach neighborhoods on the South and West sides, which are experiencing gaps in homicide inequality.

It’s easy to feel safe when you have the largest security detail of any recent Mayor of Chicago. 

His reelection announcement today reminds us that we need a Mayor who sets a higher standard for progress, so the people of Chicago actually feel safe in every neighborhood.
