Illinois just earned its 11th credit upgrade since the people elected me Illinois Comptroller. This turnaround of our state’s finances was achieved by real work from my office with the General Assembly, Governor Pritzker and Treasurer Frerichs to demonstrate financial competence and achieve real fiscal progress. I am grateful for their collaboration and support.
This has not happened by chance – it happened by choice. Before this run of 11 credit upgrades, Illinois had gone 20 years without a single credit upgrade. We are moving in the right direction, understanding there is always more to do.
Credit upgrades are confidence upgrades. They attract more investment and jobs to our state. As Chicago faces a financial crisis and a crisis of confidence, this 11th credit upgrade is another proof point that I am the only candidate in the race for mayor who has the skills, experience, and results to lead the turnaround our City desperately needs and certainly deserves.
